Playstands can be a beautiful and natural part of your child’s play experience from the youngest of ages up through early adolescence and beyond. They function beautifully as props for pretend play, holding baskets of pinecones or foodstuffs and small toys/items. As children grow they hold books, puzzles and games. One playstand alone can function as a storage unit/bed side stand, puppet theater, or playstore stock shelf. Together they are fun for creating places: draped with blankets, silks or towels to create a cozy den, an ethereal fairy bower or a dark cave!
Here on our website we are selling plans for building playstands & canopies. One set of plans includes copyrighted instructions, material and cut lists and most importantly FULL-SIZED patterns to trace and cut. Pattern pieces include curved end of playstand plan and of canopy. Detailed measurements and instructions are included for any of the non-curved playstand/canopy pieces.
All instructions are written for the beginning woodworker using basic woodworking tools. This approach allows beginning woodworkers to make the stands, but leaves plenty of room for more advanced woodworking techniques to be employed as seen fit.
This set of plans, instructions, materials and cut list was created based on the playstand and canopy shown in the photos. These were created by a loving grandfather, based upon the various playstands that were available at the time. These individual stands and canopies were drafted from scratch. In order to save you this long and time-consuming step, we have created a plan that will allow you to spend your time and energy on the other aspects of playstand building/finishing - not fidgeting around with the details of curve and angle. |
